Prescription Drug Drop Off Program

Dear Residents,

The Fairport Police Department is proud to announce that we have Pharmaceutical Waste Disposal Containers and are available for daily collection of pharmaceutical waste in the Fairport Police Department lobby, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (whenever the lobby is open to the public).   During these times, we will accept any type of unwanted pills for disposal.

We will not accept liquids, gels, or medication containers.  The disposal unit is designed for dumping your medication into the red box.  Medication containers should be recycled or discarded.  We will also no longer accept any sharps for disposal.

The misuse of prescription drugs is second only to marijuana use as the nation’s most commonly used illicit drug. The Health Ministry at Church of the Assumption and Fairport Police Department worked with the Chemical Prevention Advisory Council  to look into a prescription drug drop off at the Fairport Police Department in 2010. From 2010 to 2019, we collected approximately 21,000 pounds (10.5 tons) of drugs from over 7,000 participants. The FPD remains one of the busiest drop-off locations in Monroe County and encourage you to discard your unwanted and unused medications in a responsible manner.

Thank you in advance for your participation.Boxes
